It is already the third day of the new year and it feels like the right moment to look back on my personal highlights of 2014.

2014 went pretty fast, if you ask me. Man, what a year. I travelled a lot, met many wonderful people, finished my studies and got a job as flight attendant at Europe‘s largest airline. But… Let’s take one thing at a time.

My Unforgettable Time In Costa Rica

I started 2014 at the beautiful beach of Santa Teresa in Costa Rica. Costa Rica became something like my second home and I will never forget all the amazing people I met who became my friends and family. I cannot pick a single situation as the whole time with highs and lows was a highlight for me.

There is not a single day since without thinking about you, my Tico friends & family!!! I hope to see you all again this year.

My Trip To Bocas Del Toro, Panama

And then there was my trip to Bocas del Toro, a group of islands in the Caribbean Sea in northwest Panama. I did a Snorkeling Tour to the Zapatillas Cays Marine Park, watched dolphins and walked around Zapatilla Sur, a beautiful, uninhabited island. Read more here.

Backpacking Through Nicaragua

I also got the chance to do a backpacking trip to Nicaragua. I started with an adventurous border crossing by boat from Costa Rica to Nicaragua and visited the capital city Managua. I explored the beautiful Spanish colonial city Granada by bike and climbed the Masaya Volcano by night. Afterwards I visited the highlights of the Isla Ometepe by bike. I drove further to San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua´s number one Surf destination and ended my trip with a visit of the amazing Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park in Costa Rica.

Graduation After 4 Years Of Studying

Maybe THE Highlight of 2014 was my graduaion after four years studying International Tourism Management and Event Management in The Netherlands, Bali, Thailand and Costa Rica. It was hard work but also an amazing time. Thanks to everyone who made this time so special!

A Spontaneous Hitchhiking Trip To The Netherlands And France

A few days after I graduated I received out of a sudden the message that my uncle who I thought would be already back in Spain is coming to visit us in Germany. He asked me if I want to accompany him to his friend’s place in Holland. I spontaneously said yes and packed a few things that I thought I could need for a day or two. Read here how this spontaneous trip to Holland brought me to some of France’s most popular sights.

A Hitchhiking Trip To And Through Switzerland

Another Highlight of 2014 was beyond doubt the Hitchhiking Trip to Switzerland with my two friends Jacky and Michi. We stayed two weeks on an old farm somewhere in nowhere and discovered the country on a shoestring by hitchhiking. I will never forget the climb up to the peak of the Pilatus – The Mountain of Dragons. My favourite city is by the way Luzern.

Becoming A Flight Attendant

When I was done with my studies I started thinking about what to do next. I just had the four best years of my life behind me and only knew I wanted to continue travelling. I could not imagine doing a 9-to-5 job with the same daily routine.

By pure chance I heard that Lufthansa is looking for new Flight Attendants and seized the chance. I mean it was not any company but Lufthansa, Europe’s largest airline with an outstanding reputation. I immediately submitted my application, did an online test, a telephone interview and finally an assessment center in Frankfurt.

The day when I received the positive response is beside my graduation my biggest personal highlight of 2014.

My First Two Trainee Flights As Flight Attendant

Since the first day of my flight training I was looking forward to my first trainee flights which brought me to Bangalore, India and Buenos Aires, Argentina. After seven weeks at the Flight Training Center I felt very well prepared and was super excited. Retrospective I can say that I had an amazing crew, the best guests you can imagine and I guess I am already totally addicted to this job and can hardly wait to fly to Los Angeles on January 15th. My first Highlight of the new year 2015!

I survived my first flight as flight attendant. Thank you to the whole crew and all the wonderful guests for this amazing experience.

I am very curious to find out what else 2015 has in store for me. What were your personal highlights in 2014?
